The Vigilerhof in Seis am Schlern is the ideal set-off point to discover the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites on a hiking or mountain climbing expedition. Numerous well-signposted hiking trails lead you over sunny mountain pastures and dizzying high-altitude trails through the Dolomite Mountains. Cable cars are on hand to save you the climb, while traditional mountain huts tempt you in for some welcoming hospitality and home-made regional specialities. Head outside and feel the Alpine nature with all your senses; with the play of colours and scents of these lands, its beauty is simply mesmerizing the whole year through.

Running is good for you, and for many people it is an intrinsic part of a healthy lifestyle. The area around the Vigilerhof and the Seiser Alm is excellent for a daily run. With a total length of over 180 km and 20 running trails of varying difficulties, the Seiser Alm Running Park offers ideal training conditions. Pros and amateurs can take their pick from the trails around Kastelruth, Seis and Völs am Schlern, or opt for high-altitude training on the Seiser Alm, at an elevation of 1,800 and 2,300m a.s.l. Some of the world’s best marathon runners from Kenya come to train on the Seiser Alm. One highlight of the heights is the Seiser Alm half marathon, which covers several stretches of the Running Park.
Pedalling over mountain passes, wood and meadow trails, through the world of the pale mountains. Head out on a mountain bike, racing bike or e-bike to enjoy the well-planned network of bike paths, including the biking region of Gröden/Seiser Alm: 30 trails between 700 and 2,450m offer masses of sporting challenge. Accompanied by breathtaking views over the mighty Dolomite peaks of the Sella Massif, the Langkofel and the Plattkofel, bikers in the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites, will be at the highest peaks of biking pleasure.

Water is infinitely fascinating, never more so than when it’s inviting you in for a relaxing swim. Like the Vigilerhof open-air pool, our sunny relaxation oasis with a large sunbathing lawn and view of the woods. There’s also plenty of fun in the water to be had at the Völser Weiher Lake, just 15 minutes away and immersed in the countryside. The lake, at the foot of the Schlern at an altitude of 1,036 m a.s.l., is an outstandingly refreshing destination on a hot summer’s day. And it’s not only the freshness and the idyllic setting that impress visitors: Year after year, the Völser Weiher is awarded the title of Cleanest Lake in Italy.
When you travel through a country, you are travelling through its culture and traditions every bit as much as its lands. And on a holiday at the Vigilerhof, you will discover so many of the customs and traditions of South Tyrol.
Castle Prösels will lead you on a journey back in time to the Middle Ages, and the ruins of Salegg and Hauenstein are intrinsically linked with the knight and poet Oswald von Wolkenstein.
